Homage to 1.33 Four by Four A

Colors, Mutation, Times 4

In addition to working with Still Life and exploring how light changes over time, I’ve been experimenting with juxtaposing colors and looking at how the subjective perception of color mutates when colors are placed next to each other.  These are, of course, based on Josef Albers’s series Homage to the Square.  What I’ve done is add the 4th Dimension – Time – to the mixture.  Now, as the colors morph slowly over time, their relationship to each other changes as well.  Each Homage lasts 14 minutes.  For 2 minutes, the colors remain the same, then they slowly mutate for 10 minutes and then for 2 minutes the final set of colors remains unchanging.

This one is four sets of colors morphing into 4 different sets of colors.
